Letter from your Wicked Good Organizing Committee
Remember the movie "2001 A Space Odyssey"? Hal quoted “it's full of stars”. Thinking about our Class we remember all the characters and friends of all kinds. We were Stars being launched into the world without the umbrella of home. Sure mom and dad would kind of give us a nudge. But we were expected to go out there and make it on own own. The Class of 65 is filled with experiences. Each decision was dramatic even life altering. We cared for each other. Each autograph in the yearbooks were all about hope and well wishes. Yes a few sarcasms but well meaning. It is our intent to harness those feelings leveraging them into a special event. No not just another reunion party but a true celebration of spirit and friendship. Yes, at this crucial stage in life, it it has come time for us to share our existance with dear ole friends. Those relationships were cast from the fraternal bond Bangor High School. Your sizes, shapes, and social status do not matter as much as the pure enjoyment of our mutual nostalgia. In recent months so many have asked about others, if they are coming, how are they doing, and most of all “do you remember when!” 45 years ago did you enlist, marry, get a job, see the world, have babies, tend the garden, go back to school, hang out some more, paint, study, get religion, join flower power, resist, join, or just gaze at Bangor's clear night sky.
There’s another movie…”GREASE”. It’s even back on Broadway. Ask yourselves why that piece of entertainment is so wildly popular. It's because it throws us once again in high school. Reunions do this. At the end of the movie they sing “We’re All Together”. It's reprised in "GREASE II" and again in the Movie “High School Musical” ...."We’re All In This Together”. They bring us right back to a carefree time of loving, out of the family nests, coming of age, entering the real world and society. No other class year was so traumatic and joyeous at the same time. It was the music the politics the education the sports the personalities the luck the families the faith and Bangor High School that formed a foundation to take the leap.
Very interesting, this phenomenon does not happen after college. It’s exclusive to high school. Unless you joined a fraternity we look back to high school when "we were all together". We remember the forged relationships from high school. After college they ask you for money...it's more serious. After high school we go back and remember as if it were today. 1965 was the heart of the baby boomer express. We were right in the middle of it. No. 1 top song (I Can’t Get No) “Satisfaction”. We were not satisfied...were we?
You might remember and I'm sure all of you do the rock 'n roll, the dress codes, football games rain or shine, first graduating class of a modern high school campus in Bangor no less, Howdy’s, that pizza joint on Main Street after the game, Frank's Bakery, Coffee Pot, Pilot’s Grill, Beach Movies upper balcony, award winning Alice in Wonderland play, Gerry Hodge and the fruit basket, the old place next to the library, sneaking into Brewer or Bangor Drive Ins, dancing at the Brewer Auditorium, making out at the dump or something to that effect and so it goes. Can you add to this list?
Today and together we have made a mark on society. Our children and families are products of some of the experiences we encountered during and after that wonderful point in time. There is another movie that strikes me every time I see it. It was the most innocently joyous eve-of-adulthood film with that bittersweet feeling of leaving one's childhood behind. “American Graffiti” taught us to reach beyond traditional thinking, be ourselves and reach for the stars. “The Sky is Full of Stars”
We are one. We are important. We are strong in numbers. We have a great history.
We are the Spirit of Bangor High.

If you are wondering about the new logo above here's the concept
It's intended to be a kaleidoscope DNA ladder symbolizing our classmates of all kinds climbing up and out in every direction.
